The toddler room is a child’s next step to exploration. The head teacher provides many, many activities relating to art, math, science, etc. Each child is able to develop their skills through doing each activity. Trays are set up as a way to break up the areas at the table and teach the children turn taking and sharing. The children in this room also have outside play time and free play time, which includes dress up, construction site, the castle, puzzles, manipulatives, and games. Different story times and song times relate to the theme in the classroom. The themes are broken up by the months in the year, and different letters, colors, and shapes have a focus for each theme. Examples are earth and space, animals and on the farm, seasons, etc. All children in this room are beginning to potty train as well. Once potty trained, and of three and a half years old, the children move onto the 4-5 Pre Kindergarten room.
